No blog death! We had a long drive from Portland to San Francisco yesterday so here’s an attempt to catch up…at this point in the tour it is clear that blogging really is dead though – if it wasn’t for the longevity of this tumblr i would just tell you to follow our multiple
micro-mini-bite-sized blergs on twitter, FB and Instagram, and then write a insightful final longform post about the shift in sharing/tech/media we’ve seen in our 7+ years of touring and how tools influence production. but ha! I think I can just encapsulate that history by saying it’s too long for a phone. And that’s why this is another photo set! But please do follow us on all those other things if you want, we are trying to use #asdigsummer to bring them all under one tent for the tour.

So, since Minneapolis: 3rd or 4th parental breakfast of tour, featuring mama and papa Annie (1); fabo accommodations outside Spokane, WA (2); better zone-out-the-window scenery as we head west (3-4); readying for KEXP set in Seattle (5); the lovely oh!pears at crocodile cafe – girl/cello crush goin on there (6); and lastly, Ben states down a camera in Portland (7).
We enjoyed a much-anticipated night off in SF on Monday, and are playing at the always-fun hemlock tavern on tonight. If you are in the Bay Area come say hi! Xxox
Day…7? Seven! Six. Sigh. Several miracles later we are on the road to Minneapolis after a fun set in Chicago last night. Many thanks to the empty bottle for the nicest staff ever and a lovely space (2). We drove through a mini hurricane to get there, though (1) – again, Adam captained the van with skill and grace. (3) because I’m a cellist: 198 dollars for a cello is a pretty good deal but also oddly specific. Email about it and find out. (4) van nutrition: sometimes you just gotta have a weekly vitamin sorter like a hospital patient. (5) mark put us up in his great place in Chicago, full of unicorns and rainbows.
The Midwest looks particularly beautiful on today’s drive; we struck out on swimming in Lake Michigan but are hoping for a dip in one of MN’s 10,000 lakes if we get into Minneapolis early enough today. We also invited prince to the show, maybe he will come!
xo
Pittsburgh!! You are wonderful. Thanks for a great show at club cafe, where we added our name to the graffiti door – a prize if you find it (1). Now for a few hours of night driving to make tomorrow’s trip to Chicago easier (2). Fortunately we have the original cast recording of into the woods to keep us awake. Ryan Jen and Annie are big fans, Ben josh and Adam are skeptical but tolerant. We wish to go to the festival!
So long PA! Udderly ridic (3) but we love ya.
Happy 4th of July and afterwards!! After a firework-bright start in Boston we decamped to the family cabin in the poconos for a few days of R&R&R (the extra r is for rocknroll). It was a dead zone in all the best possible ways, including no cell phone or Internet service, and we had so much fun we mostly forgot to take pictures, which is the ultimate kind of time in my opinion. Here are the few I dug up on our way to DC (top to bottom): 1. Adam consistently gets us there on time and alive! Champ. 2. Van nutrition: sometimes you just gotta eat an entire box of arugula and half a bag of rice crackers. 3. Ryan and smores bliss. 4. Flash went off accidentally, that’s the cabin back there. 5. The lovely eddy, who joined us for Americas birthday. Jen also knows him.
We are mostly writing posts on our phones these days so no time to get verbose, plus we have a show in an hour AND Ryan’s dad came to hang out so we are signing off for now…xoxo!
Hello!! Day 1 of the summer shows. Destination: Boston. We have some sweet dashboard plants for this tour: lavender and catmint (?). Hoping the sun will make them grow up big and strong and make our van smell good. Our van, incidentally, has no air conditioning, so I am predicting that our conversation for the next month will 90% be about how f$*!# hot it is. But science says that plants make people happy so we’ve got that.
the tour blog is back – in blog form.
watch this space for future antics, and come say hi at the shows above!
max from the blackmail sent me these great russian postcards from their recent tour there (Taken with Instagram)
kickstarter packing party 1.0
we assembled in philly last week to assemble some boxes! we’ve begun work on fulfilling our kickstarter rewards
we are still writing and recording and the new album will definitely be a huge part of the kickstarter rewards program but, we’re also working on getting those cold hard rewards out to you guys; mixed tapes, test pressings, vinyl, special eps, all coming your way in the near future! one kickstarter reward that we’ve been looking forward to that has now been fulfilled was a night out with ASDiG for karaoke…
but, before we dipped into those weed & lemonades we put down a nice base of rita’s frozen custard.
and below is ryan on the mic , josh on free wings with every pitcher of beer and cool kid chris on his night out with ASDiG.
sorry, i stopped in the middle of this post to take a myers brigg personality test. but, like i was saying we’ve begun work. life is a series of failures and history is a list of successes, i told that to ben when he asked if we had completed all of the mailing for kickstarter. in a word, no. don’t check those mailboxes just yet but,
we’re workin on it. stay tuned for blogpost “kickstarter packing party 2.0.” it should be better.

Obstacles in the Recording Process
Adam’s computer died this week and he lost everything. His band, Dick Moves, may have broken up as a result. Last night my computer decided to die too. It looked like this:
that’s my reflection on the screen
i was able to make it work long enough to back up everything. And, thank god, this time around we aren’t recording the new album on my computer. But my computer has always been the main instrument in ASDiG. This album is getting real. A war of attrition seems to be on.
And things happen in 3s though, so hopefully Jen’s vocal cords won’t be severed by an evil robot in the coming weeks, or something along those lines…
a sunny day in glasgow's tour diary, now with secrets!
